What Summer Did To Us

So this is how it feels
To remember all those late nights.
We spent talking on the phone.
About music.
And death.
And religion.
Before we realized what it meant.
To live.
And to know the difference between.
Love and hate.
Those times we spent out back.
Blowing bubbles.
Trying to decide where young became old.
And right became wrong.
Ripping out pages from our favorite books.
From our own notebooks.
Proclaiming sun showers cute.
And the eighties overrated.
Cutters as conceded.
Love the next big thing.
Spending hours making mix tapes.
Perfect with The Smiths.
And too much Elvis Costello.
Summer has turned us into emotions.
