The Park.....

The Park....

A normal August day?
Maybe, maybe not.

A pleasant evening breeze,
keeps it from being hot.

We sit back for a moment,
as the children make their way.

Hurrying towards the playground,
where forever they could stay.

I'm soon drawn away,
by an emotion I don't know.

Maybe it's happiness, in its purest form.
Maybe its my heart beginning to overflow.

You and the children soon join me,
and the feeling is more than I can take.

A sight I had never envisioned.
The five us hand in hand, walking beside the lake.

Soon, the time comes for us to depart.
We engage in our own way of fun.

The play fight becomes too much for you,
and you begin to run.

In a moment you're caught,
and I look into your eyes.

It's then I'm fully aware.
It's then I realize.

For so long, I have hurt.
My heart knew nothing but the dark.

Now my dreams have life,
born that day.....in the park.

I love it when people are overcome with that feeling of happiness. It is euphoric and wonderfully enlightning. Great write.

This is a beautiful poem. It's a shame it didn't get more reads. People missed a good one.
