I have not been a mother long
I am young Lord in this profession
And to raise two boys all alone
Well that leaves me with a suggestion
I have a big responsibility
Turning boys into men
And there is no mortal model
To guide them
So make me a carpenter Lord
A builder of characters strong
A maker of stability
Men that can be leaned on
Make me a potter, Lord
Gentle, but firm
Able to remold when necessary
Hands dripping with your word
Make me a servant shepherd
Having nothing of my own
Guiding your precious sheep
Until you come to take us home
Make me like you Lord
Place me steadfast behind the cross
Giving all, even my life
To save that which was lost
