Ballad From A Fish Tank

Contributed by MomentInTime on Sunday, 17th July 2005 @ 06:09:03 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Friday night, the week is over, some folks say it’s meant for fun.
after months of quiet living, thought I’d go and get me some;
so I jumped into my car to seek my fortunes at a singles’ bar.

Now the scene was not much different from the one I’d known before,
so I started walking circles round and round that dancing floor;
and just when I’d had enough,
you stepped out of the dark and moved your stuff.

Magic sparkling with the music, every note one more caress.
Then my mind was set on fire as the light shone thru’ your dress,
and I cried “My God how sweet,
your silhouette looks good enough to eat!”

More and more the wheels kept turning, imagination’s on the race.
When you spun around I noticed a wanton look upon your face,
and it was more than I could take
to think of planting kisses where you ache.

Well the night was half-way over, so I thought I could I might,
gain a choice of your agreement, on a change of luck tonight;
but what I saw just blew my chance:
‘cos someone else had stepped into your dance.

Wasn't quite what I was expecting from the title, but...
It's still very cute, even with the sad ending. The flow is really done well here too. Cheers! J.
