and He knows nothing

I saw him poke his head outside his box
as he was hovering over mine
and together we made a decision:
We were to detach our dusty shackles.
It wasn't too puzzling.
I said I wanted to find some truth.
He said, "Truth? We know nothing."
The street lights were hiding the stars
and he began to anxiously strip the gutter of its starlight.
I knew what he was doing was against the norm
but it was beautiful.
"Something has to exist," I say.
As he cleaned off the stars he stole, he said "I know nothing."
We sat down as several boxes with pious symbols
began chasing a number of stray truths right past us.
We embraced the silence.
He grabbed my hand and said to me,
"You see, there lies another world
behind my eyes that I could spend
my forever exploring.
That is all I'm sure of."
At that moment,
I saw the stars blink as if they had
awakened for the very first time.
