Poetic Addiction

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Saturday, 16th July 2005 @ 04:52:41 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

Pen is like a good drug
once I pick it up
can't get enough...
Let the ink flow
much pain can be controlled
Colors change
The soul unrolls

The flow feels fluid
like an extension
of my hand
It moves, words appear
fears resolved and disappear

Drug in control
Yeah baby, let it flow
Taking such a long trip
a sweet dip
a tender nip

It can be ruthless ya know
and write with venomous flow
It can be sultry baby
and make your cheeks glow

Words of protest, unrest
Words of praise, general malaise
Words of days
and days
and days
Can be mournful
Soulful
But whatever it is
It comes through me
It heals me
It defines me
Never confines me

My pen

I'll take it and write in secret
hide my habit from the world
Get my fix
Sated
Elated
Till I'm jonesin' once again

Great job Laura! I like this one, and how very true!! This part is my favourite (and the ending too!)

"It comes through me
It heals me
It defines me
Never confines me..."

Nicely done!

Scorp.

Laura I love this write. The title is really neat, wish I had thought of that one! The flow, pun intended, from the pen of this one is ingenious. Your use of imagery and metaphor is great.

Super write my friend,

Will

Fantastic Poem Laura. I feel the same about my most precious pen! It has helped me for nearly 60 years now. Write it all down through your pen. The good, the bad, the sad, and the glad. Leave it as your legacy. What would we poets do without it?
Beautifully written, smooth, and easy to dicipher....great poem!
Warm Love
consue

BeAuTiFuL!!! I loved it! This poem is the epitomy of a righteous poem about poetry, oh and these lines just made me want to do a little 'yes!' jig [so i did it in my head lol]:
"But whatever it is
It comes through me
It heals me
It defines me
Never confines me"
Ahhh, you got it so well, the nail was hit squarely and superbly on the head and knocked the hell in.
