You once made a request,
and I gave you my word.
I was asked a small favor,
nothing impossible or absurd.
On the day that we take vows,
you asked that mine, I could not write.
Your written pledge overshadowed,
by my so called pen of might.
My thoughts would be of the moment.
Of you, my gift from above.
This isn't some contest,
but a written expression of love.
Not enough words exist,
a written vow would be obselete.
Pen and paper could never say,
how you make me complete.
So, I'll keep my pledge to you,
but I decree for all to know.
It'll take a lifetime, to tell you how I feel.
It'll take a lifetime to show.
