All Of My Life

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Thursday, 14th July 2005 @ 12:09:10 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

All Of My Life
~~~~
All of my life
I tried to do what was right
Chose to compromise rather than fight
But a fire burnt within
Haunting me like a sin
All of my life
I chose to live in the shadows
Shied away from the battles
Kept my opinion locked inside
Rode my emotions like a tide
All of my life
I paid respect to the one
Whom on election day had won
Strictly obeying every rule
While being used as a tool
All of my life
I’ve regretted ever chance
I didn’t step up to the dance
And quietly do my share
To erase what I’d feared
All of my life
From now on till it’s gone
I’ll sing a brand new song
And be the man of my dreams
The leader of the teams
For the rest of my life
I’ll fight the battles as the come
Won’t claim victory until their won
No longer will I hide
The desire from inside
"All of my life
Though I liked this meaningful poem as a whole, this particular stanza meant the most to me. "The leader of the teams." Such a bold, strong statement.
