Begin the change

Let there be silence
Amidst the chaos in the world
So my head may rest
Stop all the violence
Every single day
To relieve my heavy chest

Let it be calm
Is that to much to ask
So I may feel at ease
Gently grip my palm
To sooth my shaken nerves
And comfort me if you please

Human compassion is what I ask
Among those who are blind
To those in need
Is this to hard to grasp
To love one another
To care for other hearts that also bleed

From what I see it is to much
We all are too blind
To selfish to give a welcome hand
To lean we have no crutch
Sad but true
We can change this
Let the change begin with you

This is excellent work. I enjoyed this piece of work. It seems to me that a couple of decades ago compassion and brotherhood just disappeared from the face of the earth. I am not sure there is time left to try to bring it back. It is a daunting task and no one seems to be interested in anything that does not affect them personally. The children suffere so badly from this and if the world continues will continue to suffer unless one of them decides to stand up and go that extra mile and clean up the mess in the world we have made. They are our only hope.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
