My Longest Day

We feel the sexual frustrations
And/or some twisted variations
Of our all too human mind
The ways and means
We’ve left behind
So on some level or another
barring Sigmund and his Mother
We’re waxing fragile in our plight
And screaming quietly at night
And though true love might be quite near us
Our lovers learn and come to fear us
For we’re not always soft and kind
Crippled hearts and damaged mind
Put a Band-Aid on the bleeding
To ease the tears, and loss, and pleading
We put our broken toys away
And somehow live another day
A pretty world through rosey glasses
One amongst the huddled masses
hopes to be the one of many
But, rightly knows he hasn’t any
Of those gifts which others seek
A truth that makes him tired and weak
Then comes the tolling of the Vespers
We travel North, and South and Westward
And end up in some little town
But still could not escape the sound
That echoes through our mind and after
The muted cries of long dead laughter
The childrens’ eyes which trust unfailing
See my death grip on this railing
Lest I fall screaming into madness
My joy in contrast to my sadness
I know tomorrow isn’t coming
The days are endless in their running
Still love’s a promise that I keep
I find it only in my sleep
It seems to full bloom in the night
But dies when captured by the light
So as it stands I have to say
That this has been
my longest day

This is filled with some brilliantly powerful emotions. Wanting love but feeling it will not come. Desperation and depression follows? Not quite sure I am understanding this correctly but I think I am pretty close. Yes, a mighty long day!
