You’ve always been there
When my world was crashing down
When my spirit hit rock bottom
I was crawling on the ground
You’d send an angel
Who would help me to my feet
And guide me through the darkness
Until again I thought I’d lead
And I’ve made some poor decisions
And sometimes I lost sight of you
But you never gave up on me
Despite the pain I put you through

Feels like forever
Since I’ve turned to you this way
And now I’m not even certain
That I know quite what to say
I’ve gone through changes
Some perhaps a little late
At times I fought them all the way
But patiently you’d wait
And you would stand upon the sidelines
And you would let me play my games
While the stakes weren’t always certain
You would not release your claim

There were some rough times
When I couldn’t face myself
When I thought I’d given all I had
Certain there was nothing else
But you were with me
And through you I remained strong
Now I finally remember
What I should have known, all along
I had come here seeking answers
I got down upon my knees
It took some time to realize
But now suddenly I see

I just need to surrender
All I am unselfishly
And by loving you
I can love
Me

| Damn I love this site. I think if it wasn't here I would likely to have never had the wonderful pleasure of reading this. There are so many poems here that are just brilliant, this one joins the ranks. Thank you for sharing this exquisite piece. When I first read the poem, I was thinking of being saved by a fellow human, learning to love again. When I read it again. I took it differently like you were speaking of God or a god. Oh Dear Naz.................this just took my heart a' soaring. You never cease to amaze me with your outlook.........it takes like "forever" to learn what you just penned, but when finally learned............it will take you both to the very end!!!!
Beautifully written, and the expressions used were outstanding indeed! When you can love another inspite of yourself, then You have accomplished what others may never know!!!
