Same Old Story

flames, water, a cliche
smoke - speaking riddles to a fine summer day
thoughtlessly, fecklessly, fighting the heat
lest a spark ignite stalk-like feet
religious prayer perhaps
possible dare perhaps
silence one two three
miracle (there was not to be)
fishing, razor cutters; long-hooked hooks?
tremble of a treble, the ground shook
two spires of fire into the sky
determined to live determined to die

I have read this piece several times and find it very thought provoking. The first stanza is awesome. Well done. Peace to you. Laura |
