A shallow sense of belonging fills the empty hole which was once my heart.
A hole created when I was consumed by the flames of my own hatred.
Once I tried to douse the flames, but that fueled it more.
Slowly I gave up the fight and let the fire die out on its own.
My pride no longer exists, as I walked across the remains of my shattered self.
Picking up memories of what seemed to be a lifetime ago.
No longer do my eyes shine with the happiness I once felt.
But with the never-ending flow of tears for all that I’ve lost.
The eerie darkness now surrounds me, bringing on a feeling of helplessness.
The air that is still, whispering none of the secrets it once kept
I walked towards the blackened sea, ready to sacrifice myself to the unknown.
Letting myself drown, I sigh with a relief I have never felt until now

Sad, but really well written. I've walked a similar path...so I kinda know what your talking about in this. Just keep fighting, sooner or later, it all works out.
