The Way I See You

Contributed by IntnstyAngle on Monday, 11th July 2005 @ 10:13:10 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Every night I lay in bed
And as I look up overhead
I see the bottom of my brother’s bed.
But through my eyes I see it all
The world so big and me so small
Seeing us together on top of it all
Wondering what life would be
If me and you
Were still to be.

I lie in bed and imagine that
Life would be back the way I wished.
But now I just think that it is all a dream.
And then I wake up… oh wait!
I was already awake and I wasn’t dreaming.
So now I lay there hoping that
You can see me once more
The way I see you.

Now I’m here in class
And look at you
A piece of glass
Too pure for even my eyes to behold.
I would always smile
And take a while
To show you that I cared.
…now I’m dreaming…
I just woke up from a dream
I recalled has happened before
Because THAT wasn’t a dream
It happened before… but now
It’s only IN my dreams I
Can see you looking back
With the same feelings…
The way I see you.

I walk into school
And into the room
Where I presume
You are… just so I can see
Your smiling face so my day
Starts off right.

But lo’ and behold, I see him
Standing with his arm around you
And I’m back into the nightmare.
These visions haunt me day
And night… Is there a way
To stop the decay
Of my brain and being
Flushed down the drain?

Jealousy is a stinky cologne
I know… but that’s the feeling
That strikes when I see her and a
“Not-Me”.
For months I have longed for
You to see me
The way I see you.

I can’t believe what I did
And it’s mostly because
I was a stupid kid.
Naïve and meek were traits I held
But now I see things clearly.
The dark skies of nightmare shift to
Clouds of hope…
Hoping that soon I’ll have a chance
To tell you how I feel.

But now I see you and sometimes I think
That it is hard enough to gain your attention.
I’ve taken a back seat and make a cameo
When you’re hurting.
Because all I am is just a friend
Nothing more… hopefully none less.
But still I lay in bed and dream
For one last embrace before
You forget about me completely.
When I give you hugs, it feels so right to me.
When you receive one, it’s “just another one”.
No meaning for you… ecstasy for me
It brings me back to the days where I
Was constantly happy.
Now I wear this mask to hide my
Feelings… so do not disturb.
Until that day comes I’ll dream of hoping…
You see me…
The way I see you.

This is honestly the best poem I have ever read. And I'm not just saying that because he's my friend and I had to spend about 4 days with him.

best poem you ever read? i think you should read some more poetry friend. I do like this poem alot, though i dont know if it's something about the verse itself or just that i can relate to it. I think this was well done, you should most definitly keep writing, and yes be proud of your work.
