A Fish And His Sandwich

Contributed by WorthlesSanity666 on Monday, 11th July 2005 @ 03:29:59 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

There once was a fish
that lived in the lake
who got filled up with
burgers and tacos and steak.

He wanted something else,
something different and fun
he had such a craving that
he asked some one,

“What can a fish
like me do?
I’m sick of fast food.
Aren’t you too?”

“Why no!” said the eel,
feeling holier than thou.
“Why would I eat something
not from a cow?”

Dismayed, our beloved fish
swam persistently on
wondering where all
the nice fish had gone.

He asked a
flounder, a bass, and a trout
but none of the fish
could figure him out.

So he went to the elderly crab
and told the old man
“I want something different to eat
but when I asked the others they simply ran!”

“Don’t cry,” said crab,
bringing him near.
“What you need, my lad
is a sandwich, I fear.”
“A sandwich?!”
cried the fish with a start
and a scream so loud
it almost stop the crab’s heart.

Where in the lake does a fish
find one of these? In the sand,
like the name suggests?
Or do they make them on land?”

“On the land, my child,
where no fish can go.
Why it would be suicide
just to do so!”

“I’ll risk it Mr. Crab!”
said the fish and off he went
without the
wise crab’s consent.

To the seagulls he swam
to strike a deal.
He offered a burger for
his esteemed meal.

“A sandwich?!”
they said,
thinking it over. They were certain
the poor fish was out of his head.

But away they flew,
far out of sight,
until they picked up a bologna sandwich
that they figured would do him just right.

They dropped the ambrosia
in front of the fish
and the fish was profoundly happy
that they’d fulfilled his wish.

“Thank you!” he chimed
and turned over their prize
and began to consume the rapture
of a GINORMOUS size.

The little fish’s blue scales
glistened ten times as bright
as his little fishy gills
filled with delight.
