Heart Felt

Heart Felt

I painted your lovely picture,
And it's a masterpiece.
The canvas's course texture
Brings out the eyes that cease

To be your best feature.
I cannot paint a bleeding love
Without blending mixtures
Of blackened blood.

I haven't captured
The shadow of tears,
Because they rapture
A soul devoid of fears,

And that doesn't create
The perfect picture.
A hint of sadness makes
Heart felt tinctures

That still do not bring
Out the eyes that are pleasured
By a love that still sings
In an enrapt heart assured

That her eyes will make
My lasting love demure
Enough to paint
Her lost allure.

You really DO lament for saddness and sorrow:

"I haven't captured
The shadow of tears,
Because they rapture
A soul devoid of fears,

And that doesn't create
The perfect picture.
A hint of sadness makes
Heart felt tinctures"

..these stanzas tell me so-
amazing all the same..
I enjoyed it very much.

Hauntingly beautiful as many of your writes are. I think that's why I come to read them, they breathe of mystery and sadness. This poem really had a great flow one line left me grasping at the next. Peace to you, Laura

Well done Jen...I really enjoyed this one. Each stanza held its own, but the third was my favourite...the ending was the wonderful woe I've come to expect of your writes ; )

I love this! This is a great write with an extremely powerful ending, like always. I just love the last line: 'Enough to paint/Her lost allure' it's beautiful. Well done!

Wow, now I see this has some great imagery! A bit dark and emotionally sad yet the imagery does paint a perfect picture because it tells a tale that lets us see an artist at work. And you are an artist.

She has lost her allure but your write is very alluring.

Thank you for sharing and take care.
