YOU TELL ME

Contributed by arakrune on Thursday, 9th January 2003 @ 05:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Moments in the rain
Coffee outside under an umbrella
Whispers of music & disdain
Long read words of the Dali lama

What is that sound on the street
Ahhh just another dork spinning his wheels
Yet another poor lost geek
Avoiding himself lost in day to day deals

We lose ourselves in the race
Always trying to impress the rest
Ever the quickening pace
And a striving for the best

What happened to being human?
What happened to long quiet walks in the forest?
How did we end up this far from our clan?
Mother earth must look at us an tsk tsk

We worry about who has what
And what does he believe
Then try to get more stuff
And tell him change what he believes

For we forget that we are all the same
We all bleed the same regardless of belief
And we act inhuman to one another to our shame
Will we ever find any relief?

Our history is rife with the dead
That died for what they thought
The streets have run red
With the atrocity we have brought

And so often these things are done in a god’s name
Almost always a god that claims forgiveness or peace and love
But they all end up the same brining that blood red rain
And the destruction of peaces dove

Walk on quietly and speak not of your god to me
I have read his books and listened to his preachers many
And been told to open my eyes and see
Often with much acrimony

But I have opened my eyes and accepted what is true for me
You claim an evil one has blinded mine eyes
I act more like what you profess than you don’t you see?
Your blinding ignorance my patience and civility tries

But I refuse to be dragged to your level again
You may lose yourself in your blind faith complete
And claim every atrocity you commit is a gain
I will walk away and hopefully you give me some respite

arakrune A really well thought out and well written argument and conclusion. I have tried to say the same thing in my poem "there's got to be a better way"
I'd apreciate your opinion of it.
