He’s my companion, he’s my best friend,
he’ll stand beside you through thick or thin.
He’s non-judgmental, accepts me for me,
his love is unconditional, his alliance is free.
He’s a good listener, who doesn’t talk back,
and when you do wrong, won’t give you no slack.
He’ll follow you through rain, follow you through sleet,
and by the days end, fall asleep at your feet.
He’ll greet you in the morning, be the last to say goodnight,
and he doesn’t take sides on spousal fights.
All he asks for is love, food, and water,
and if your in danger, he won’t let you go no farther.
Oh the love of my buddy, oh the love of my pal,
oh the love of my doggie, I love him as well.
