Tonight's Cold Embrace

Contributed by waos on Saturday, 9th July 2005 @ 03:08:57 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Walked from the car tonight,
paused to watch the stars.
Remembered the moths striving to be beautiful
until crushed against moving glass.
And like the moths I long to be easier to love,
but I know it hurts like the clenching inside,
the clutching of my chest in the grip of Sin.
Pride in my blandness silences me
as you butterflies fly past,
just like the Pharisee past the dying man
waiting alone for the Good Samaritan,
who in this case failed to exist.

Musings of nature's remembrance
while staring into nowhere
clutching a stuffed lamb
'tween my legs and my breast.
No warmth to thaw this aching heart to heal.

Sadness teased from desert eyes,
dropped unknown to hidden ocean depths
to fade into the multitude alone,
like one young girl in the midst of the world.
Memories teased from TV sitcoms
of middle aged friends with teenage problems.
Faced with the future of sex before marriage
and a heart consumed with love for the past;
found myself midst the melodramatic antics.

Memories of emptiness,
the musings of the present
a result of national television; and fiction.
To them it's all fiction.
But to me it's loneliness in the shape of a lamb
within tonight's cold embrace.

Stands...applauds and tosses roses. This is such an incredibly intense, grippingly emotional bit of writing that I read it a few times before commenting. I am sorry for your despair, but astounded at the way you expressed it.

Outstanding write

Woah Kara!
Seems pausing to watch the stars has it's advantages!
so incredibly deep..this was-
favorite lines:

"just like the Pharisee past the dying man
waiting alone for the Good Samaritan,
who in this case failed to exist"

"Memories of emptiness,
the musings of the present
a result of national television; and fiction."

Simple truth..
Brilliant.

Goodness Kara sadness cannot even begin
to describe this write. I don't even know what
to say but I hope you are doing alright. I liked
how this poem started it set up the poem
perfectly in my opinion. I think I liked the part
with the moths the best and I definitely know
what it is like to be caught in the grip of Sin.
Loved this thanks for sharing this.
