Stare at the mirror
Look into your face
Watch before your eyes
As the image starts to change
What the mirror unveils
Something you’d rather hide
Reflection reveals
What you are inside
A face full of rage
Or leering lustful eyes
Who is the person
Deep within your mind?
Contorted with pride
Cringing from hidden pain
Will your visage alter?
Or will it remain unchanged?
Twisted with hatred
Careworn over years
The divulgence of his true self
Every man’s greatest fear
Look within the glass
Into your inner face
What will the mirror show?
No one escapes unscathed

Great poem, with a solid message. I am a firm believer that everyone has a skeleton or two in a closet somewhere. Thanks for sharing. |
