Leave me in my painful comfort,
I'll stay and play with my muse;
I'll enjoy my peaceful anguish,
When you'd think I'd win I lose.
Watch me as I tear my heart out,
And my teardrops fall like rain;
If only I could let you feel it,
But I'm sure you'd go insane.
Give me back my darkest hour,
When the feeling was so pure;
Give me back my childhood wonder,
Before I knew life was a whore.
Leave me in my painful comfort,
As life slithers down the drain;
Only when there's nothing left -
Is there anything to gain.

The second stanza is by far the best part of the poem. It fully captures the pain of the poem. An overall great poem. |
