Deep In The Heart Of Dixie
Deep in the heart of Dixie
There's a place that I know well
It's an old, old cemetery
But what a story it tells
There lies the ones that dreamed
Of what this Country could be
And here, beneath a shady tree
Lie the ancestors of me
There are several generations
Including my grandparents, so missed
Sunshine and flowers adorn them
And by a breeze they are kissed
Someday I'll too pass from this earth
My body will enter it's rest
But with these folks by my side
I know, I'll be with the very best.
Carol

Carol, what a beautiful tribute. In our beliefs, we are cremated and returned to the earth. This is written so beautifully. You touched my soul.

I felt a kinship with your poem.
It was wonderful to read your poem. I'm glad I happened to find it.
Very well expressed.
