Holding patterns in the rain
Broken hearts and dreams in ruins
Something more precious shattered
Trampled under the plow
Feel the weight of the yoke
Never get used to it she whispers
Inside the universal butterfly
She is free to float above the abyss
Delicate creature in a beautiful dress
He bows at her feet and she sighs
Knowing he is the one, come closer
She reaches out to him, but he’s not there
A wisp of smoke and he disappears
She dances on the edge of a breeze
Thinking he will see her there
And she will sit upon his shoulder
In her brightly colored gown
To delight him and win him over
He will love her as she is
Universal butterfly
Trapped inside a human heart
