''You and I''

Topic: LoveRemembered

"You and I"

Our genesis began with a stare...
I became enchanted by your auburn hair...

My strength attracted you from the start,...
but you were spellbound, by the depth of my heart...

We indulged in each others fears...
and took turns wiping each others tears...

Plagued by a single thought, "Is she or, he the one?"...
"Is this soul destined to hold me, when I come undone?"...

Moments when we'd disappear from sight...
As we became one, within a wall of light...

Moments when it was you for me, and me for you...
In the heart of night, an occasion too good to be true...

As weak as a newborn, when in your presence,...
but all the while, drawing strength from your essence...

Washing your feet, with water from a stream...
My remaining days in such peace, do I dare to dream...

As I wipe the sleep from my eyes,...
morning has come to my surprise...

Surviving another night, without you by my side...
Living to tell about it, a task in which I take no pride...

Wanting to surrender all, or even engage a thousand men...
Just for the chance to hold you...Just for the chance to breathe again...

Rarely do we find what we're looking for...
Rarely indeed, do we find it to be so much more...

I have no more to give, and even less with which to cry...
Eternity has decreed, there will never be another you and I...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
