London from Triumph to Tragedy
An anxious Wednesday with hope in the air
Banners for london being waved everywhere
The Olympic bid so proud so exciting
Amazing displays and the beautiful lighting
Hours of talks and voting is done
The announcment rings round, we’ve done it, we’ve won
London rejoices in delight of the vote
A huge banner displayed on the side of a boat:
London 2012 it read, oh how wonderful I said
Hosting the Olympics doesn’t happen everyday
The whole world coming to London to play
Oh what a day a wonderful day, the day before tomorrow.
Terrorists prepare for a shocking attack
Packages are left on a bus at the back
London celebrated right through the night
All the residents so happy and bright
But all of a sudden with gleamy clarity
The terrorists attack and leave many casualties
London’s triumph overshadowed by tragedy.
LONDON 06/07 – triumph as London win right to Host Olympics
LONDON 07/07 – tragedy as Bombs detinate in a busy London

I've only just heard myself!
How tragic!
Your poem, London from Triumph to Tragedy is so correct....I feel for the family, friends and relatives of the loved ones that are injured or have died in this shocking bombing!!!I feel in shock still...I can't believe these bad people can be so cruel!

I just caught the news myself..
what a tragic day indeed-
Of course thoughts and prayers to families
as well as the great Country itself..
London's got to be stronger than ever before
to live free for the rest of their days!
Strength and peace to Great Britain!

Left a few notes on the site. I am so sorry. Is felt deep in the heart on this. No one or any country should have that happen. Prayers will be sought for all.

It is so terribly sad that such a triumphant achievement had to be marred by such unspeakable tragedy...Our thoughts and prayers out to the victims and their families.
