Come death, eternal bearer of souls
Release me from life’s troublesome woes.
Guide me across Styx’s immortal divide
To dark mysteries that there reside.
Come death, surround my heart with cold
Extinguish the fire that burns it so.
Lead my soul to endless rest
Far from life’s weary test.
Come death, give me your hand
Take me to that ethereal land.
Deep in the shadows make my bed
I’ll sleep among the whispers of the dead.

| i really enjoyed this piece. It was well expressed and imagery filled. I am one who enjoys dark themes, thus my natural attraction to this piece, yet I feel you have given the reader more than what they expected. Your choice of words are eloquent and fitting. The content and structure are well fashioned. Good rhyme scheme. I feel the briefness compensates with its rich text. I am a fan of short expressive pieces, like this. I think the personification of death is very realistic and psychiological. I like that. Also spiritual. There is alot of truth here. And a lot of beauty. I simply adored this piece. Well done :) |
