Evening Tides

Some distant shore
draws upon my gaze
beyond the evening tides..
my eyes locked
on some point
known only to me.
It could be
tomorrows or yesterdays
that keep me company
there, at the waters edge..
a promise of what may be
or regret of what wasn't.
I know It'll bring no comfort,
but I reach for you anyway-
only to hear your name
fall but once
from my lips..
a whisper lost..
instantly,
in the roar of the surf.
With deft weight,
reality and responsibility
break me..
falling on my shoulders,
my cross to bare.
I am not to be a savior.
I sunk further as I swam in the dark
in the memory of you.
Pale shadows
cast at my feet
and I drift there..
in and out
amongst the tide,
robbed of my heart
in the ebb and flow.
In time, the tide will recede
and I'll be left with only
my voice..
my love~
waiting..
for your return.
B

Sigh....such a heartfelt write...
Quite a sad picture you have painted here.... a vivid one none the less...
"a promise of what may be
or regret of what wasn't."
To me, this sums up everything...

Beautiful Billy!!!
Ur words always steal me away. I could sense the longing and grief in this poem and can relate to your sad feelings.
My heart is still in wait for someone too...
Magnificent, this is one of my faves!

Sounds like she is gone and sadness weighs deeply upon you. Then why would you want the day to last forever? I am missing something here. Sorry Billy, but I honestly do not understand.

A touching and reaching out kind of feeling i
get from this, along with the mysterious
feeling that presents it self when u sit by the
ocean, it can be your friend and foe at the
same time, i definately can relate to this
sentiment, splendid peice of writting once
again . . .

Unfortunately we can't keep any moment
forever, but water serves as an excellent
metaphor for describing loss. Nice write. |

Gentle Billy,
There is something melancholic, yet so beautiful in this.
The metaphor, I think has me at a dreadful loss. How
beautifully painful to be trapped in a memory, so sweet
and yet all too painful at once .. sinking in the dark
There is a certain solace in both the water and the
memory. I began to quote, but realized, this piece,
in it's entirety, is what I found truly captivating.
Completely brilliant, babe.
~Breezy
