He Knows the Words He Lives By

Contributed by Benny14 on Tuesday, 5th July 2005 @ 04:13:30 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

He knows the words he lives by
He has studied their intricacies
He waits in hopes that the words themselves dare not displease

He waits for them as he waits for her
He stumbles over metaphors of a flower or a setting sun
He is only sure, unequivocally, she’s the one

He is only sure the past and future have plowed into the present
He feels no sense of time or meaning until
He can be assured she’ll forever run to meet him at their doorsill

He still confuses her with language, finally abandoning words he learned in school
He confides wholly in his feeling tried and true
He pauses awhile, collects, and says “Darlin, I Love You
