She lies through her teeth, yet still she stands tall
Still she is deaf, to Truthâ€™s clarion call
He offered to share, his heart and his bed
Only to find that he shared her instead

She dreamed up lies, to hold it together
Then realised those she lied to were clever
Now the truth is out, how do you expect him to feel?
When second best is so far from ideal

â€œJust stick to your storyâ€? , is what she was taught
Too late to play innocent, now sheâ€™s been caught
Today will stay in her mind, like a photograph, too
A frozen reminder of what deceit can do

Standing by the door, sheâ€™s not feeling so clever
One evening of lust will now haunt her forever
She begs forgiveness, tells of a soul that is sighing
But he could never forget, thereâ€™s no point in her trying
