Monster

Contributed by bgj on Tuesday, 5th July 2005 @ 09:04:20 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

From the mist of the twisted wood
The dreaded one watches and waits,
His glaring red eyes and his cold dark heart
Are filled with hunger and hate.

With patience of stone he bids his time
As he waits for the world to wake,
Someone will stray from the road
And their life will be his to take.

Travelers who pass do not know
The horror that lurks within,
That if they enter into the wood
Their body and soul he’ll rend.

Brave men have entered into his realm
To try to end his reign,
But when they encounter the evil one
They die in horror and pain.

Since time eternal he’s stalked the wood
This vile destroyer of souls,
He’s the hated enemy of all that’s good
As told in the legends of old.

I must say, I dislike Dark Poetry, but this was acceptable to me because it could be reality! Well written poem, great form. I don't know who taught you how to write true poetry, but they were very good, and if you just learned on your own, then keep up the good work.
