LANDMARK BAR?

LANDMARK.....BAR?

Settled among wheat fields,
Hot plains high bushel yields.
Tiny village of Wheatland.....
Fifty years ago, my homeland.

Numerous churches with steeples,
and congregations of sweet peoples.
Not excluded the Landmark Bar.
Antique still standing--tiny memoir,

Way back when, my father said,
"Ladies don't occupy bars, steer clear,
dead!
I'm not ten plus 8, I'm now 68....
Pat or Dick say,
"Let's go to the Landmark bar!"
"Great I say, Great!"

My father shakes his tombstone.
Feeling young defying backbone!
I belly up to the bar as the saying goes.
Female bartender, we say our hellos.

Friends suggest a nice drink.
She doesn't know mine, rethink?
"Coors Light Please." I reply.
A bottle as tall as me, I could die.

Somewhere in the Landmark
A lark is singing, from the ceiling
I remark.....
"I've never been this high before!
No wonder you shouldn't go in bars,
they have moving floors."

Somewhere in the Landmark
an old woman's singing,
Landmark stools are spinning.
Bartender's chuckling,
My friends are circling.
Coors light is twirling.
I hear voices chatting.
Top the bar I'm dancing.....

"Whoppppeeeeeee Ride 'em Cowboy
A Coors light at the Landmark is pure joy!"

50th reunion

"A friend is someone who will help you move.
A real friend is someone who will help
you move your own body safely
from the Landmark Bar!"
*Coors light Smiles*

P.S. I've never been drunk
in all of my life! but I've
certainly had fun being
that way on paper!

A brilliant description of what may happen at a 50th reunion.
Real life!
I was a stubborn Yorkshire ram when called upon to join any kind of "reunions"
Did not believe in them. Life changes an individual and changes are often not well understood or appreciated. although necessary.
Great and impressive write Consuje
Thanks for sharing it with us
Warm love
Elizabeth
