Muddied Steps I/'/ve tromped for years in your muddied steps
wiping grime from my soul
to put the sun back-

the wear is showing and all my scrapings
of graveled interaction is taking
what few soul lines remain,
erasing
that new shoe smell for the
reek of and crease of loss and pain.
