The Ferro Alloys and Doldrums of Tomorrow
And she said,
step lightly my love
in the cold and the night
step lightly my love
do not fright
step lightly my love
your wings take flight
step lightly…
and he said,
brake slowly my dear,
towards the wistless frontier
break slowly my love
from your commitments above
break gently my dear
from your past and your prayers
break gently…
and I felt,
fall swiftly my child,
from all you hold dear
feign slightly young one
away courage, towards fear
Until sweet and slow and low
until…
with all your might... you try and try and cannot fight.
Now stop and face the shadow.
Face the shallow of your soul.
And you wonder...
who/'/s to blame for your passionless cajoles.
Be still, be firm, and perfectly unwitting.
It/'/s only the devil if you see him, and only the devil if you forget.
Your heart ... It humors me.
