Dear Ole Dad

Dear ole dad
As you know
We buried you today
It was so sad
For all of those that you have known
But I wanted you to know
I prayed for you
Each and every day
Hoping it would all go down
In some other kind of way
Folks from near and far
Gathered today
To wish you farewell
In a special way
With much love and respect
You were the star of the day
A man loved by the people
Although you kept your great
Achievements and good deeds
So very silent
Hidden away
You were a strong willed man
Void of needs
And I was your number one fan
I'm so sorry it was such
A cold and cloudy windy day
While at the gravesite
When the priest mentioned your name
The crowd stood in awe
When a bright ray of the sun suddenly shined on through
It made us all so very happy
Because we all knew
In our hearts
It was you
