Change of Heart
I've made it to the beach
The sun is blistering hot
I'm walking along the shoreline
Have a care in the world I do not
The water is surly calm
So I started to swim afar
I never did swim with Dolphins
I never saw a salt water Gar
I've made it as far as I could
As my arms slow down, I am weak
But then I thought of my children
And their hearts I just had to keep
As my legs started to give
That's when I started to relive
All the good memories I have had
Ones of all my kids it makes me glad
I recall holding each one at birth
All five saved my life, it was no curse
They're worth living for, even if nothing else
I can feel it in my heart, something i've never felt
With all my might I kicked even harder
As I was drowning, farther and farther
I realize I have made a big mistake
I can't die here, my kids are at stake
They deserve a father
One who sticks around
They are never a bother
I just want them safe and sound
Now I must swim faster
And find my way back to shore
I'm praying that my master
Has not completely shut the door
For now I know why I live
It's because all 5 of my kids
I must be here to see them grow
If i'm dead i'll never know
I made it back to shore
Exhausted to say the least
But now my knowledge is more
I don't have to face the beast
I can embrace this life
Like DJ never could
I could give up all my strife
Like I promised him I would
I'm thankful that swim didn't kill me
As at that time I wished it had
But now I'm happy to be breathing
It no longer makes me sad
