Night Song
Sitting in the coolness of a rain soaked night,
I feel the honeysuckle breeze touch my weariness,
It calls me....it sings to me.......it is intoxicating.
Slowly sinking I fall softly into the darkness,
Where shimmering drops of moonlight surround me.
I drink in the moment.......I breathe it...........I close my heavy eyes.
Silently I sit as chirring crickets sing an ancient song of rest,
Where tired hearts are healed and peasants are made kings,
Of forgotten kingdoms lost to the simple memories of a thousand generations,
I listen........I fade..........I wait......
Soothing wind fills my being as I drink the wine of slumber,
Watching the starlit sky disappear with every hungry breath,
While the warming fog of sleep embraces my longing mind,
It closes softly upon me........it covers me.......I sleep.
