Its the Mistakes That Define Us It takes a long time for a seed to grow into a tree
It takes a summer for the harvest to come
I look back at my life and all that it has come to be
And after many trials I think my time has come

And all those lessons with their pain show my humility
How to treat people and how to give my heart

Its the mistakes that define us
Its the set backs that help us overcome
Its the trials that define us
Its the hard times that prove that we are strong

From the hearts of man come bitterness and envy
From the hearts of man come pity and love
How we face others will show our constitution
when they fail us or tear down our hearts

It takes more than titles to make us humanity
It takes putting up with differences with equity

Its the mistakes that define us
Its the set backs that help us overcome
Its the trials that define us
Its the hard times that prove that we are strong

Like the strong tree stays rooted in the storm
We can conquer our negativity

Its the mistakes that define us
