YOUR HEAVY MIRROR
a mirror on an empty wall crashes to the floor
falling with the weight of the world, or maybe something more
the resultant, is as a million hearts in shatter
leaving what was once a whole in a heap of tatter
normal? when plans have been poorly cast and laid?
your journal goes untouched, and your bed remains unmade
your mirror, you had placed in a loosely crafted frame
no longer where it rested if you wish to lay a blame
this instrument you utilized to name your imperfections
until the moment you stumbled upon the secrets told in those reflections
it was swollen pride and arrogance that pulled that mirror down
for no childish temperament was ever seen around
the keystone has been deeply set into your imagination
completing with it an archway to another destination
remain no longer where you smell the spoil of your spilt milk
fly away instead and claim your rewards come from silk
alas, i offer to you advise for one like you to live by
if you cause yourself a heavy mirror, don't hang it so damn high...
