Tell yourself it's okay
Tell yourself it's okay
Then turn out the lights
Whisper softly to yourself
"It's gonna be alright"
It's not always darkest before dawn
It's darkest in the dead of night
So reassure yourself of nothing
and prepare for a fight
Sweat drips down your forehead
and your arms fall asleep
you toss and turn and feel your chest
to make sure you feel a beat
You've been through this before
but every time it feels brand new
and it's as if you're the only one
who knows what you're going through
And they ask you what causes it?
but you have no idea
maybe it's work,maybe it's her
maybe you're drinking to much beer
maybe you're not happy with yourself
maybe it's all those things
so you pick up your guitar
and you sing.
it all goes away with a few chords
and some honest but sloppy lyrics
about your life at it's worse
and how you won't take it anymore
but do you believe that?
Maybe, but not fully.
So you jot this down to stop the worry
and you
make it to another day.
and you
tell yourself it's okay
