Night of the Troubled Soul (The Brooding Celt)
When all should be at rest
With stars to shine and moon rise
Sleep escapes me,
Nowhere to be found
From my window into the darkness
My heart cries
" Where is my love, the keeper of my heart?"
" Come bring sleep to my eyes
And speak peace to my heart..."
But my cry echoes over the vast sea
That completes our separation
Across the windswept tide
Can my love hear me?
Can she discern my longings and feel
As I do the unquenchable yearnings?
The night becomes forever as my mind wanders
Through memories made with her
The warmth of her kiss and tenderness of her smile
" Oh love.... I am spent with weary heart
And troubled soul..."
" Meet me in a special place
That brings reprieve for my tortured spirit."
"For lost I am without you here
And heartbreak abounds"
"The touch that you alone can give
And bring rest to my heart and mind"
" I wait for you, my love... I wait..........."
