Alchemy What spell cast the soul down from empyrean gold to earthly mould of brass
Knuckling it down in hell’s kitchen heat , to earn nickels crass
Papering with lucre filthy holes in heart starving chill
Unfilled by food that will feed on flesh, bones and blood, hunger that is death
Uncovered by roofs torn by tempus fugit the mind stopping still
Undone by loose reins enslavement of living - broken the will
Until such time as when the sea rusts the iron fetters, the soiled seed sprouts
Until such time as when the fire melts the crusts, the air freed of smoke
Until the ethereal real becomes, releasing the diamond from stone
Ages unchained no longer by spell of time and space
Matter transformed.
