My Secret Place
I have a place I go to
It is my special place
It's filled with all my treasure
my sanctuary space.
It doesn't look at all much
A doorway in a hall
But behind that normal doorway
Within my soul it calls.
The door is green and tattered
It hides my life within
Unlock the door and open
And take a step right in.
Walk down the concrete stairway
there's 6 of them in all
A silver handrail each side
along the painted wall.
At the bottom of the stairway
The kitchens to the left
An island bench across it
and an engraved pure white chest.
When looking right in front
You will see an open fire
With candles on the mantle
And a sofa to admire.
The sofa cushions call you
to come and take a seat
Relaxing into nothingness
While the fire gently heats
The candles casting shadows
Across the creamy walls
There's music in the background
As a blackbird gently calls.
And to the right you'll see there
An old brass comfy bed
With candles on the sideboards
And pillows at the head.
This tranquil place renews me
When the world just gets too much
My place I hide away in
My soul that I can touch.
It isn't somewhere you go
It's in my mind you see
But I go there when I need to
when the stress I need to free.
