This site is wonderful because it show no prejudice to standard so every one is equal but I can\'t help now and then picking out someone who is that bit more special with their poetry. Really excellent stuff - I eagerly look forward to more.
Best regards
Terry2002-07-31 00:22

I\'d like to know how you are as I\'ve been worried about you.
I am completely thrown by more changes in the site today. 1230Patricia_Petrorobin6436Hi Robin,
I\'ve just spent the better half of two hours looking for your poem, Scattered Echoes. I had read it before and commented, but it fell off my list when I commented on others and I forgot to make a mental note of your name. This particular poem moved me deeply and has stuck with me thru these days as one of the most beautiful I\'ve read on YPDC. I would love to post it on my website. My website is new and growing. My intention is to fill it with poems and inspiration that will help others cope when faced with depression, tragedy, etc. I\'ve already posted some poems written by Terry Driscoll, Chrissie, Dave Humphries (humphdj) and Carrie (from Orange, OH) along with links to the other poems they have posted here and on the old site. I\'ve made certain they retain all rights. With your permission, I would like to do the same for you with Scattered Echoes as a start. You can view what I\'ve done at my website at: www.angelfire.com/poetry/summersongScattered Echoes contains so many profound truths about how we live our lives and may touch others the way it did me. Please let me know what you if you\'d be willing to share your story.
Sincerely,
Patricia Petro (summersong_oh@hotmail.com)2002-08-02 10:27

1235ginsdanceBluGurl6It\'s not that I was strong all by myself though. I have a wonderful friend that got me out and through most of the recovery afterwards, gave me back my self-esteem and self-worth. Your poems touch me because it\'s like a reflection of what could have been for me, and for so many others. I would really like to know what you think of some of my dv pieces... here are the titles in case you are interested.... : \"That Summer\", \"Why is HE here?\" \"Red Roses\", and \"Last Hope\". My favorite saying is that there is always hope even in the bleakest situations. If you can find the time to read them, let me know what you think, please.
Gin 2002-08-02 13:05
1236ginsdancechataboxHe\'s in Philly right now, but he\'ll be home in 3 days. He moved so we didn\'t keep our relationship (going steady) together... but I don\'t think our friendship will ever die. Thanks for all of your nice comments on my work.
Gin2002-08-02 14:18

1262Unaekseveer1RoseDon\'t worry Amber, I too am consantly pestered with problems with this so called advancement in technology, Ctrl/Alt/Del is imprinted on my finger tips! Not that this ever solves the problems!

And hey, Don\'t give up either, not giving up on love is the hardest thing to do, but we never truly can! So this should tell us we can only be strong, not weak as we tend to feel when we open our hearts to someone who doesn\'t respond straight away! If you have seen something in him you must trust your judgement, even if it may\'ve been fooled before, it\'s continuously learning from life, therefore getting better at what it does! I can assure you he will not be laughing, maybe smiling with flattery, but certainly not laughing! If you do not eventually get your desired result then so be it, you\'re trying, that is all you can do! Your own conscience will be pleased with you, because at least you tried, this will allow you the strength to try again another day!

Try doing away with the word hope, I find it tends to bring along with it an air of hoplessness. Use believe or it\'s derivatives in its place! Try it out, if you don\'t agree don\'t do it, but I\'m beginning to believe this works with confidence in just about everything. It dosen\'t always work in reality, but even then it just seems to make things feel more achievable and sunnier in their outlook!

The dark things I\'ve recently placed on the site I wrote a while back, I\'ve had two people say \'tongue twister\' about the Dear D..... one! I\'m not sure I understand, do you think they\'re trying to tell me it doesn\'t belong on a poetry site?
Or should I not worry, or am I getting the wrong idea and simply being stupidly paranoid?

Speak to ya soon
With love
Dean
I\'m attempting to put into words my theory about flies, so be prepared to think I\'m madder than you thought already! 2002-08-04 22:13

1287ginsdanceEmmie74Hey! To answer your question....
The mentoring group that I\'m starting is called Reach Out. It\'s open to all high school students who want to participate in helping someone\'s life, by tutoring, mentoring, or just letting someone bend their ear. The students that we help come from all walks of life... and it\'s great to be able to help them with their problems!!! So far, I\'m the only student in it because I have to have it approved by my principal, and I have 9 girls that I mentor. Their story can be found in the poem, \"The Longest Night of my Life\". Hope that answers your question!!! *Hugs*
Gin2002-08-10 11:41

1305Butterat_ZoolTheDonThank you for your comment on my poem \"Sex Machine.\" It\'s received a good bit of criticism, but your comment was the first bit of criticism that was helpful in any way, and i greatly appreciate that. It was a highly experimental poem that nobody has really taken to kindly. Please let me explain myself. The \"Sex Machine\" describe is simply humanity, the \"Units\" are babies, and the general meaning of the poem is that as more and more people are born, the world becomes continuously more chaotic and dysfunctional. The experimental part came when i tried to relate the actual text of the poem to the poem\'s meaning. The poem describes this factory where humans are being constructed, again, the \"Sex Machine,\" and as things become more chaotic, the poem describes the machines breaking down as oil shoots across the room or nuts and bolts are destroyed. At the same time, the text becomes progressively more chaotic as, at first, the rhyme scheme is warped and then disappeards entirely, then the meter is also perverted, follwed by the spelling and grammar, and ending in a state with all of the letters of the words intertwined, and having no spaces or punctuation at all. The last stanza translated reads \"Dinosaurs will rule the earth. Down with Humanity. Long live the king. (Drownlings) The colony of man-children will smother itself blue.\" I hope this helps you to better understand the meaning of this \"crap\" that i wrote. I thank you again for your comment, and i would like to ask you to give a couple of my other works a read because none of the rest are at all like this, and i have even gotten some nice, praising responses on a good number of them. I thank you for your time, and wish you a pleasant day. Sincerely, Butterat Zool.2002-08-13 13:40

1315TheDonButterat_ZoolYou\'re more than welcome. I thank you for explaining the poem. When I said that I personally think it\'s crap (that was wrong of me by the way, I should have just said I didn\'t like it. I\'m am SORRY), it was personal. I did get the impression that one who could understand it would appreciate the poem. I appreciate it now that I understand it, but you have to remember that you don\'t have the author right there with you when you read it. Poetry is already complex and abstract, but sometimes author\'s can go too far to where reader\'s can\'t gain anything from the work. Let\'s say that you\'re poem was published and people read it at school. I think it would get an overall thumbs down, because your poem can seemingly only be deciphered by you. When i get the chance I will check some of your other works. I understand that it was experimental, but remember, \"when you play with fire, you take the risk of getting burned.\" I just don\'t think they had the right to say that you \"don\'t have a clue.\" I\'m sure many have read poems by very famous authors that didn\'t \"float their boat.\" Shakespeare wrote hundreds of sonnets, but I find it hard to believe that all of them were taken kindly to. Anyway, Check some of mine, but I will forwarn you. I am a Child Of Christ, so some are very Christian-like. Be Blessed!
Donovan [quote]
On 2002-08-13 13:40, Butterat Zool wrote:
Thank you for your comment on my poem \"Sex Machine.\" It\'s received a good bit of criticism, but your comment was the first bit of criticism that was helpful in any way, and i greatly appreciate that. 1317ginsdanceEmmie74Hey! Yeah of course you can take it to Canada!!! (I live in Cleveland, TN by the way). The way that I have it set up over here is that the high school students involved have to maintain a 2.5 GPA and be interested only in the communtity service work, no $$. Each student that wants to be involved in the program fills out an application and submits it to the person in charge. The application is just to make sure that they will really want to participate in all the programs with the students. Once you have all the students you want to be involved (of course this all has to be approved by the principals at your high school and the schools you\'ll be going to) you want to set up students that have had similiar experiences with the students that they are mentoring to. That way the kids can\'t say that they don\'t understand. Reach Out also does tutoring... in that case you take the students that are better in whatever subject and pair them with students that are struggling in whatever subject... make sense??? If not... my email address is ginsballet@aol.com just email me with your questions and I\'ll do my best to answer them.
