Babylon Baby

Contributed by Steeleyes on Tuesday, 12th August 2003 @ 12:06:24 AM in AEST
Topic: notopic

We met along Sharmuta Street
In the heart of old Baghdad
You’re the sweetest little hoe
This G.I. ever had

With tricks I never knew
From ‘Perfumed Garden’
Your dextrous hands
Made me so mighty harden

Standing like a rock
In the garden of Eden
By the walls of Ur
In Babylonian heaven

In the ragin’ storm
In this burnin' heat
You’re my Babylon baby
And I admit defeat

With your black sultry eyes
And your mischevious smile
Calling Dubhya names
And his creeps defile

As the sun comes up
Over this crazy old town
The peace in my heart
In this land has grown

When duties are over
And the day is done
We’ll make love to ricochets
As we sweat in the sun

Knowing this mad existence
Could bring me my death
Your flaming Iraqi heart
Has me longing for breath

To be here beside you
Worth more than black gold
Or any dirty oil
For which I sold my soul

In this raging storm
In this burning heat
My sweet Babylon baby
May I admit defeat?

I found this difficult to read ... I guess because I'm more naive than what I thought ... well written though .. all your poetry is extremely thought provoking. ... Jan
