Find A Reason....
Restless my mind skirmishes
Unraveling endless knots of twisted fishing line strings
Entering a labyrinth that Merlin would cry hopeless in
Misery loves comfort
Each leading further to no fathom of insight
So why do I lay my eyes to rest
How can I sleep hearing the protests of narcolepsy?
A siren of fire trucks screaming on an amplified microphone
A red flashing light blinds my sight
Like a flashlight jammed into my eye socket looking for cataracts
My hands suffocate my face desperately
Dirty pillows hover over my head like thunderstorm clouds
My heart roars like thunder shaking my vertebrae in jittering convulsions
My corpse presses hard against the 560 coils that retract against my chest
My lungs squeal like a slaughtered mule with a broken leg
The satin sheets gather around my head like an Arab’s wardrobe
My feet kick away at the white goose feathers tickling my feet
A sheep lays dead with the number one thousand sixty hundred and thirty
A gargling sound of spit gushes like a geyser
Grumbling snarls, abrupt gags of air find melody
Quick jerks push against the exposed flesh on my abdomen
Stretching the lids of my eyes to reach the folds of my nose
Leaving stretch marks of dug in finger nail scratch prints
Time has frozen as minutes turn to hours
My blood drenched eyes clench remnants of salty sweat
After hours of agony I awaken from my somber state
Like a mummy with blankets wrapped around my body
I drag my feet across the floor murmuring sounds of disgust
I shut off the television, close the window,
And push the body next to me on its side.
