I’m Sorry

I’m sorry that you feel this way.
I’m sorry that I don’t know what to say.
All I want is to comfort you,
But I find I don’t know what to do.

I know you loved them with all your heart,
And that’s what makes it harder to part.
I wish so much they would not have had to die,
‘Cause it hurt me so much to see you cry.

Cried for a life taken away as a youth.
Cried for the devastatingly horrible truth.
Cried for the smile you’ll forever long to see,
Cried because you know deep down, they’re happy to be free.

I’m sorry that you feel so helpless,
I’m sorry that you feel like such a mess.
I want to help you through this feeling,
But I’m not sure I’m good at healing.

But I’ll try my very best,
So you might get some peaceful rest.
Just remember that I still love you.
And remember that they love you too.
