you've read this poem before guilt like strong
undertow

toes curled in
tension

and nervous humming
is back

there/'/s a toe-tag full of dire
warnings

and crouching in the corner
to try and trip

old ankle bones and a blind owl
hoo wahs

near the window and almost February
and 2:00 am

so dark I forget who am I? who
am I?

that creature with wings pulling
at my subconscious

plucking feathers one
by one

watching for the gate
the river

the rowboat Hello Night
Watchman

feed me the page
take my coin.
