Drifting Clouds

From a lonely soldier, at 10,000 feet and falling
While soaring through clouds, all billowy white,
Their beauty and grace, their purpose in flight,
They float 'ore the world , to share their great beauty,
They mingle with others, until there are many.
They shift, they drift, they wander about,
They slide through the heavens, never to stop,
At times they fill, the sky with such beauty,
Sometimes they drop, such rain its a pity.
Without them, its true, that life would be sad,
And usually they make, ones heart feel so glad,
But their beauty is shadowed, when I think of you,
The love you offered, so calm, so true.
Life had such meaning, when I was with you,
While others were searching, I found it so new,
But like the clouds, that wander about,
Our lives must drift, and sometimes apart.
I guess what I'm saying, my heart is still true,
But I'm so lonely, and sad without you,
Remember when you see, the clouds in the skies,
A young soldier in love, with tears in his eyes.
